Water woes again in Manor as works loom on long-term solution

Councillor Donal 'Mandy' Kelly met last week with Uisce Éireann officials who say that works are on track to commence next month on the replacement of 2.6km of mains infrastructure

Manorcunningham water woes set to be resolved

Councillor Donal 'Mandy' Kelly (inset) has welcomed news of the works in areas of Manorcunningham.

Residents in areas of Manorcunningham have been hit by the latest water outages.

Homeowners in Rossbracken and Raymoghey were left without water on Saturday morning.

Fianna Fáil Councillor Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly says that he has contacted Uisce Éireann, who have advised that a repairs team will be on the ground to fix the issue.

Works are to commence in November to have new water infrastructure laid in the area. Residents have been beset by constant outages in recent years and Councillor Kelly believes that the new pipes will alleviated the issue ‘for once and for all’.

Some 2.6km of mains infrastructure will be replaced. Residents in these areas were left without water on Christmas Day, New Years’s Day, St Patrick’s Day and Easter Sunday.

Last Wednesday, Councillor Kelly was in Tuam for a meeting with Uisce Éireann officials. There, he impressed the urgency of the works for those living in Rossbracken and Raymoghy and also areas of Bomany, Newmills, Conwall and Drummahaght, who have been similarly blighted.

Councillor Kelly said: “I have been assured by Uisce Éireann that they are still committed to have these problems resolved on the current time frames previously set out which is positive news.

“I will continue to keep the pressure on Uisce Éireann to ensure the works in these areas commence as soon as possible.”
