A Letterkenny man who threatened a young woman with a piece of wooden fencing has been sent forward for trial.
John McGinley appeared this week at Letterkenny District Court via video link.
McGinley, an 18-year-old of Glenwood Park, Letterkenny, faces a series of charges over the incident in June at Glenwood Park.
McGinley is charged with assaulting a woman and causing her harm.
He has been charged with producing an article, namely a piece of wooden fencing, during the course of a dispute.
McGinley also faces a charge of stealing an Oppo mobile phone and a charge of causing criminal damage to the mobile phone.
Garda Gillian Page gave evidence of serving a book of evidence on solicitor Mr Rory O’Brien, on behalf of McGinley.
Sergeant Gerard Dalton told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has consented for McGinley to be sent forward to the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court, which commences in January.
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham made an order returning McGinley for trial and administered the alibi warning. A section 56 order, relating to tapes of interviews, was made.
Legal aid was granted to Mr O’Brien and two legal counsel will be assigned.
