Senator Eileen Flynn said she wouldn’t nominate Conor McGregor ‘to wash the dishes’
MMA fighter Conor McGregor has launched an extraordinary personal attack on Donegal senator Eileen Flynn after she was one of several Oireachtas members who said they would not back him in a bid to become Ireland’s next president.
Responding on X after Ms Flynn was quoted by The Irish Sun as saying she would not nominate him to wash the dishes, McGregor called the comment “disrespectful”.
“I nominate you to brush your teeth and see the dentist,” he said. “Because if ever there was a cause to bring back masks, I would call for it.”
McGregor added: “I'd appreciate less of the disrespect.”

The independent senator was asked if she would back a presidential bid from McGregor, something he has mooted in recent days.
“I wouldn’t even nominate him to wash the dishes,” she said. “That’s the straight, honest truth of it. End of story.”
She was one of 12 independent TDs and senators who responded to The Irish Sun, but was the only one singled out by name by McGregor in an audio post on Friday.
Donegal TD Thomas Pringle and Sligo-Leitrim TD Marian Harkin were among those who said they would not nominate the Dublin fighter if he stood for president.
“I wouldn’t nominate him to lace my shoes,” Mr Pringle said.
