Gardaí appeal after woman is struck by car and driver fled the scene

Gardaí have requested a driver who was involved in an incident where a young woman was struck, to make contact with them.

The female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Ardaravan Square, Buncrana, on Monday, December 18 between 4:30pm and 5pm. She sustained injuries but none of which are life-threatening in nature.

“We appeal for the vehicle driver involved to make contact with gardaí. It is believed that the driver may have stopped at the scene for a short time but then left again,” A Garda spokesperson told DonegalLive.

“The vehicle has been described as being a dark-coloured saloon. If anybody witnessed the incident we ask them to make contact with gardaí.

"We believe that there were witnesses to this incident. The area was very busy at the time. If anybody travelled in that area who had a dash cam we ask them to make the footage available to us.”

Gardaí in Buncrana may be contacted on 074-9320540 concerning this incident.
