A spokesperson said: "Due to the adverse weather conditions a decision has been made to cancel the swim for health and safety reasons.
"We hope to reschedule the swim for New Year,s Day, weather permitting.
"Merry Christmas to everyone and we hope to see you all on New Year,s Day."
The Christmas Day swim at Creevy is expected to go ahead. However, conditions are expected to be rough, and organisers have issued safety information for those taking part.
Dara O'Malley Daly took to social media to advised swimmers: "Sea conditions are expected to be rough with moderate south west winds and water temperature of 9 degrees.
"Low water is at 10.30am so please enter via the slipway or steps.
"Take care when entering the water and do not dive or jump from the pier."
Swimmers are asked to arrive from 11.30am for a 12pm group photo and start.
Dara said: "This year’s swim is raising vital funds for two local charities North West Hospice Sligo and Donegal Galway Cancer Bus Charity Good And New. All donations are greatly welcomed and appreciated."
"See you all tomorrow! Wishing you all a happy Christmas."
Anyone not attending in person can make a donation via the Creevy Christmas Day Swim fundraising page.
