The family who lost both parents over two days at Christmas have expressed their gratitude to all those who supported them in the most difficult of circumstances.

Jackie McGettigan, Heatherville House, Benroe, Bruckless, passed away on December 23 and his wife Ann McGettigan (née O'Farrell) sadly died on Christmas Day. Their joint-funeral mass took place at the Church of St Joseph and St Conal, Bruckless, before their internment at St Mary's Cemetery, Killybegs.

“The family would like to thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences over the past few days,” the family said.

“Thanks also to Fr Brady and Fr Colm, the Killybegs Choir, Herta Kelly, Tara Hotel and McBrearty’s Funeral home for their support at such a difficult time.

“A special personal thanks from all their children to Cecilia Johnson, whom we will be forever indebted to. Thanks to The North West Hospice, Sligo University Hospital, Killybegs Community Hospital and Home Support Community Services for the excellent care given to both our parents.”
