Carn Drama Club is bringing the Jimmy Keary play The Two Loves of Gabriel Foley to The Colgan Hall in Carndonagh for a run of three nights later this month.
The three-act comedy is directed by Geraldine Mooney. The play revolves around Gabriel Foley, a middle-aged bachelor farmer played by Tony Doherty who lives with his mother Aggy, played by Maeve Mc Loughlin.
Gabriel’s been unlucky in love and Aggy thinks she’ll never get rid of him.
Then he spots the upmarket Hazel Myers played by newcomer Jeni Boyns and he joins the posh drama group that she’s in, in the hope of getting to romance her.
His roguish neighbour Liam Gavigan - played by Shaun Bradley - offers him some free marital advice with hilarious consequences. Meanwhile, Gabriel is totally oblivious to Chrissie Mc Cabe played by Karen Mc Laughlin, his next-door neighbour who fancies him for ages.
By the time Chrissie makes her feelings known Gabriel already has Hazel's attention and Hazel will not go down without a fight. Other characters along the way include Lucy Lacey, Aggy’s long-suffering sister (played by Carmel McGrenra.
Characters within the posh drama group include the sensitive director Maurice Delamare - played by Conall McGrenra - and the self-absorbed Clive Snell played by Ambrose McCreanor.
