Donegal clubs and groups receive €450,000 in CLÁR funding

Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has announced that Donegal is to receive a €450,000 share of almost €6.2 million CLÁR funding announced today.

The minister announced almost €6.2 million in funding for community and sports facilities nationwide, this morning.

The funding, under the 2023 CLÁR Programme, will support the delivery of 152 projects including astro-turf pitches, playgrounds, sensory gardens, walking tracks nature trails, outdoor performance spaces and community cafés.

The following clubs and groups were allocated €50,000;  the Laghey Hall Development Committee CLG for a development of a sensory garden, the Lettermacaward Dev Group for enhancement of accessible green space provision, Coiste Forbartha Chnoc Fola for fishing platforms, Rathmullan Community Garden and Allotments for the development of a community garden and public allotments, Killybegs History and Heritage Committee to enhance the existing woodland walk,  Coiste Forbartha Eadan Fhionn Fraoich to improve the thermal performance of the Community Hall, Carrowmenagh Community Centre to improve the thermal performance of Carrowmenagh Community Centre,
 Coiste Forbartha Fhanada for improved access to Trialough Community Centre and Narin, Rosbeg Portnoo Mens Shed to re-roof the existing men’s shed workshop.

Minister Humphreys said: "I’m delighted today to announce funding of almost €6.2 million, which will see the delivery of 152 high quality community and sports projects nationwide. This funding is being provided under the 2023 CLÁR Programme and is all about ensuring that some of our most rural communities benefit from projects that will make them more vibrant places to live, work and visit.

 “So from astro-turf pitches, playgrounds and sensory gardens to walking tracks, nature trails, outdoor performance spaces and community cafés – these projects really will make a difference to the lives of people of all ages and abilities."
