Joseph Kane taught generations of students in the Abbey Vocational School and Donegal Vocational School
The death has taken place of Joseph Kane, a former teacher of the Abbey Vocational School.
Joseph, known throughout the school as ‘Joey’ taught Metalwork and Technical Drawing for many years, first at what was the Donegal Vocational School and then in the Abbey Vocational School.
He was a great advocate for the Army Reserve, known as the Fórsa Cosanta Áitiúil (FCÁ) at the time. Joseph encouraged many students to get involved in what was a thriving 28th Infantry Battalion FCÁ on his watch.
Joseph passed away at Donegal Community Hospital on Sunday, January 14.
He is sadly missed by his loving wife Bried and family, Caroline (Keith), Ciarán, Louise (Pádraig), Joseph (Michelle), Fiona(Darren), Loretta (Daniel), Conor, Claire (Gary), Niamh (David) and his 16 beloved grandchildren, and his brothers Paddy (Liz), Breege (Joe), Desmond (Mary), Gerard (Geraldine) and Danny (Alice).
Joseph is predeceased by his predeceased by his Parents Joey and Teresa and brothers Johnny (Gretta), Willie, and Peter (Maureen).
His remains will repose at the family home in Drimcoe, Mountcharles, F94 R8D7 on Monday from 3 pm until 10 pm, and Tuesday from 1 pm until 9 pm. The house is private at all other times and on the morning of the funeral.
Requiem Mass takes place on Wednesday at 2pm, in the Church of the Sacred Heart Mountcharles, with burial afterwards in the adjoining churchyard.
