Off-season boost for Donegal Town as hundreds of councillors attend seminar

Cllr Tom Conaghan is Cathaoirleach of the Municipal District of Donegal

Donegal Town has received a much welcomed boost with the visit of hundreds of councillors from around the country,

Cathaoirleach of the Municipal District (MD) of Donegal, Cllr Tom Conaghan (Ind) welcomes the Local Authorities Members Association (LAMA) to Donegal Town for their Spring Seminar on January 19 and 20.

“LAMA is a national association of local authorities in Ireland and I am delighted that they have chosen Donegal Town as a venue for their Spring Seminar,” said Cllr Conaghan.

“I believe this shows a national vote of confidence in our town. We have top quality hotels with excellent service and ample guest facilities, bedrooms, etc.

“This is a great boost to all businesses in Donegal Town with 300 to 400 councillors coming to Donegal Town at what is traditionally a quiet month.

“I would be confident that all business sectors will feel the knock-on effects of the LAMA conference being held in Donegal Town. I would hope that all retail sectors will find an improvement in trade - pubs, shops, restaurants, etc.

“Donegal will have an excellent opportunity to showcase our hospitality, natural amenities and our renowned céad míle fáilte.

“As Cathaoirlead of Donegal MD, I would like to thank the Chairman of LAMA, Cllr Micháel Anglim and the committee for choosing Donegal Town.”
