Bláth na hÓige
The Henry Girls, Diane Cannon and Bláth na hÓige which features Megan Nic Ruairí and Cathal Ó Curráin have been shortlisted for due recognition at the RTÉ folk awards.
The RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards celebrates the very best in Irish folk music from the past year. The award ceremony will take place in Vicar Street, Dublin on Tuesday, February 27, at 7.45pm and will be broadcast live on RTÉ Radio 1 from 8pm.
Sean Gabha by Piaras Ó Lorcáin and Bláth na hÓige Bláth na hÓige has been shortlisted for best traditional folk track. The traditional music group also appears in another two categories being shortlisted for best folk group and best folk album.
The Henry Girls and Ríoghnach Connollyhave been shortlisted for best original folk track Not Your Fight.
Amhrán Pheadar Breathnach by Diane Cannon has been shortlisted for best traditional folk track. Diane Cannon has been shortlisted for the prestigious award - best traditional folk singer. She features alongside such singers as Lisa O'Neill, Síle Denvir and Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin.
The Lifetime Achievement Award winner for 2023 will be announced in early February, in advance of the awards. Previous winners are Mary Black, 2022, Christy Moore, 2021, Steve Cooney, 2020, Moya Brennan, 2019 and Andy Irvine, 2018.
