An Emergency Tractor Run will take place in Newtowncunningam for those who saw their homes damaged in Storm Isha.
Last month’s storm struck three houses in Newtowncunningham so the ‘Newtown Lightning Fund Tractor Run’ has been arranged in a bid to help the families.
Registration will take place at 12 noon on the day of the event, Sunday, February 18, at LC Packaging (F93 D86A), where tea and refreshments will be served before the wheels get in motion at 2pm sharp. Tractors big and small, classic and vintage cars, bikes and lorries are all welcome to participate.
“One family's dream home was left in ruins,” event organisers have said. “Thankfully they managed to get their children and themselves safely away as they could only watch on in tears with them, helpless, as the fire that ignited from the lightning strike then sent flames high into the air, devastating what they saved and worked hard for over years.
“The only way to bring any kind of normality back to the children and their mum and dad is to rebuild the pieces with the help of us all by doing what we can. “When everyone comes together we can all see the strength in numbers, and we can help bring some comfort to them in their hour of need.”
