Tony McDaid as a Donegal County Councillor from 2004 to 2007
Tony McDaid has thrown his hat into the ring for the upcoming local elections.
From Strabane, but long-settled in Lifford, McDaid has been involved in community development issues since the late 1970s. He served as a Donegal County Councillor from 2004 to 2007.
“Folks, I am delighted to share with you that I have been selected along with outgoing Councillor Gary Doherty and with Dakota McMenamin to contest the forthcoming Local Elections in June in the Lifford-Stranorlar local electoral area.
“I would like to sincerely thank my local Sinn Féin Cumann, the McLaughlin/McGinn for the nomination- a nomination and an honour I don't and won't take lightly.
“I have spent all my adult life campaigning for social justice through my work in Community Development and in Family Support, and of course through my Republican activism of over 50 years.
“You will recall I was elected in 2004 to Donegal County Council to represent what was then the Letterkenny Electoral Area. This time around I will be running as part of the largest ever Sinn Féin team to contest Local Elections in Donegal. I look forward to the challenge!”
Lifford Sinn Féin said: “Tony will be running as part of the largest ever Sinn Féin team to contest Local Elections in Donegal.”
