Rathamullan's An Bonnán Buí to close as owners bid a thankful farewell

An Bonnán Buí is based at the Pier Road, Rathmullan

One of Rathmullan’s most popular spots, An Bonnán Buí restaurant, is set to close.

Owners Martin Kelly and Monica Santos have made the difficult decision “for a mix of business and personal reasons.”

“To our friends, suppliers and customers: We have taken the difficult decision to close An Bonnan Bui,” they posted. “For a mix of business and personal reasons, we have decided that the time is right to close our beloved restaurant for the final time.

“Over more than two decades (with a couple of breaks), we have had so many great times, and a lot of fun. From our wonderful staff (some of whom we lost along the way, like the great Mary Toye, what a character and someone we will always miss), to you our customers, we thank you for so many wonderful nights of food, friendship, singing and dancing.

“We would like to thank all of our staff down the years who worked hard along side us whether front of house or in the kitchen. We would also like to thank our suppliers over our many years of business. We literally could not have done it without you all.

“And to our customers - we hope you enjoyed being part of the An Bonnan Bui story. We tried to make it as memorable as possible for you every time . We are hugely grateful for your support. To our family and friends, thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.”

“Our other bird, Eile Eile Café, will still be open in Letterkenny and we hope to see you all there. Martin and Monica.”
