Sergeant Paul Wallace has officially retired from An Garda Síochána after 39 years of service.
The ceremony took place last Friday at Letterkenny Garda Station, where Paul Wallace was joined by fellow colleagues for his send-off.
Sergeant Jim Collins presented an Appreciation Award from Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI) to Paul Wallace for his time in the force at the get together last week.
Sergeant Wallace has served as the Divisional Crime Prevention Officer since 2002. Crime Prevention Officers are trained to promote and advise on crime prevention techniques in both the private and public sphere.
“I would like to wish Sergeant Paul Wallace (Divisional Crime Prevention Officer) a very happy retirement on behalf of all of his colleagues and we hope that he will have many years of good health and happiness ahead to look forward to,” a Garda spokesperson said. “Sergeant Wallace spent his last day of service out on the beat in Letterkenny for the St Patrick's Day festivities after over 39 years of service.
“Paul joined An Garda Síochána in 1985 and he served in Monaghan, Glencolmcille, Glenties, Carrigans and Letterkenny. It has been a pleasure to have worked alongside Paul and he will be missed.”
