Keelin Moncrieff blames 'posh accent' in apology after Prime Time Donegal 'slam'

Influencer Keelin Moncrieff appeared on Prime Time on RTÉ last Tuesday

After a recent appearance on RTÉ Prime Time, Dublin influencer Keelin Moncrieff has apologised after receiving criticism for "slamming" Donegal.

The influencer appeared on Prime Time, last Tuesday, discussing the cost of renting and owning a home for young people in Ireland.

Moncreiff said she makes a "substantial salary," however she will not be able to live near her family or friends and would be "forced to move to Donegal" if she wanted to buy a home.

Keelin said: "I was living in London but I became pregnant and wanted to move home as I wanted my child to grow up around her family. I am someone who makes a substantial salary for my age and it is nothing to do with my spending. I am saving, I can get approved for a mortage but I cannot afford to live anywhere where I grew up or anywhere close to my family in the first place so me moving home was probably futile because I am going to have to move up to Donegal. I know I am very lucky for the position I am in as I have a roof over my head."

The influencer has now issued an apology over the weekend, while responding with a TikTok video to a comment under one of her recent posts.
The comment by a TikTok user said: "Sorry but just had to say your comment about buying a house in Donegal was out of touch and insensitive. We have a mica crisis that isn't being addressed properly and it's really affecting people."
Keelin responded saying: "Since my appearance on Prime Time this imaginary beef between me and Donegal has been created. I can understand how it can be interpreted as I have a posh accent but I do think Donegal is gorgeous. I am looking at the moment at surrounding counties in Dublin and they are even still expensive.
"The reason I used Donegal is because the houses are objectively cheaper in Donegal, Kerry and Mayo than Dublin and the surrounding counties. I said that to make a point as Donegal is not near my family and I said I wanted to live near my family. I never said anything negative about Donegal and I don't understand the beef the people of Donegal have created. I love you all. I am not going to move there and I am sorry about the crisis that is going on."
