Can you help a Donegal couple identify four ladies in a wedding photo 62 years on?

The four ladies captured in the Paddy Joe and Maire O'Donnell's wedding photos from 1962

Annagry man and musician Paddy Joe O’Donnell is wondering if anyone has information regarding four waitresses who were captured enjoying a meal during his wedding.

Paddy Joe and Maire (nee O'Byrne) got married on November 28, 1962, and had a photographer take photos at the reception at the Central Hotel in Donegal Town. Their wedding photo later appeared in the Donegal News.

However, Paddy Joe and Marie earned something of a surprise when they saw an advert in a local newspaper years later. The photographer's former home was sold and the new homeowner came across some photos of the wedding and enquired in the local media as to who might own them.

Having flicked through to photos, Paddy Joe and Maire were intrigued as to who the four female staff members were from the Central Hotel, seen enjoying their dinner and have asked anyone who might know to get in touch. Paddy  Joe can be contacted at (074) 9548146

The Donegal News on December 22, 1962 said: “The ceremony, with Nuptial Mass and Papal Blessing, was performed by Rev. Canon McGinley, PP, Kilcar, assisted by Rev. Father McAteer, CC, Annagry. The bride was given away by her father, Mr. John O'Byrne. The best man was Mr. Charles McCole Dungloe (a friend of the bridegroom), and Miss Kathleen O’Byrne (sister of the bride) was bridesmaid. Master John Joseph O'Byrne (brother of the bride), was pageboy, while Misses  Collette Campbell and Brigid McHugh cousins of the bride, were flower girls. The organist was Leo Brennan; Gweedore.

“The bridegroom and best man who are talented musicians,  members of the far-famed Slieve-Foy Dance Band, which entertained the very large number of guests at the reception. The honeymoon was spent on a tour of England and Scotland.”
