Traces of oil have been observed in the waste water treatment network at the pier pumping station in Donegal Town.
A spokesperson for Donegal Town County Council issued an appeal to help find the source of the oil.
"Please check the condition of your oil tank and if any leaks are found repair them as a matter of urgency," said the spokesperson."
This latest appeal follows similar detections of oil in Ballybofey and Raphoe. People who own oil tanks are urged to ensure that they are leak free.
