Letterkenny Rovers came out on top in the Letterkenny Area final of the Brian McCormick Sports Cup against Swilly Rovers on Sunday.
In an excellent football match between two skilled teams, Swilly took the lead on seven minutes with Shane McNamee's impressive 35-yard strike.
Just two minutes later, Letterkenny levelled as Lee Mc Monagle smoothly bypassed two defenders and calmly finished. Swilly dominated the first half, with Ian Ward's effort hitting the bar and bouncing on the goal line. In the second half, Letterkenny intensified their attack, forcing Barry Gallagher in the Swilly goal to make several crucial saves.
The winning goal came on 70 minutes when Nathan Plumb scored a superb header. Both teams hit the post, and Swilly had a disallowed goal near the end.
