Mary mayhem as five more selected for Dungloe Festival lineup

The following Marys have been selected, Orla Sheridan is representing Cavan, Marina Boyle for Wicklow, Molly Part will wear the Dublin Sash, Donegal's Molly Gallagher has been selected to represent the WIld Atlantic Way and Kaylin Healy was presented with the Edinburgh sash

A further five marys have been selected since Gaeltacht Mary Leah McDaid was presented with her sash.

Selection conventions are taking place all over to choose the 2024 Mary From Dungloe representation and the next selection was for the Cavan Mary which Orla Sheridan received. 

The ceremony took place at the Cavan Crystal Hotel. ”A heartfelt thank you to all the staff at the Cavan Crystal Hotel and Michael Hanley for generously sponsoring our Cavan Mary once again this year,” Mary From Dungloe International Arts Festival Event Organisers shared. “Here’s to Orla and the incredible journey ahead.”

Following on,  the Wicklow Mary and Dublin Mary were selected at the Skylon Hotel in Dublin. Marina Boyle and Molly Part, respectively,  were presented with their sashes by “esteemed judge Caroline McGroary from the Donegal Association, as well as Mandar, Skylon Hotel Manager,” Mary From Dungloe International Arts Festival Event Organisers shared.

“Here’s to Marina’s reign and the boundless adventures awaiting her here in Dungloe. Congratulations to our new Dublin Mary, Molly, we look forward to welcoming you to Dungloe.”

“Had a great evening in the Skylon where myself and the Wicklow Mary toasted to the beginning of an exciting few months,” Molly Part, 2024 Dublin Mary shared.

The Wild Atlantic Way Mary has been chosen as Ardara-native Molly Gallagher who said she is “delighted” to represent the Wild Atlantic Way. Molly was selected aboard the Arranmore Red Ferry by Dominic and Deirdre Sweeney.

Most recently, the new Edinburgh Mary was chosen as Kaylin Healy. The Edinburgh Emerald Social Group selected Kaylin and Irish Vice Consulate Andrea Wickham Moriarty presented the sash. Kaylin celebrated at the ceremony alongside Glasgow Mary Mairead Mc Enroe and Former Edinburgh Marys Louise McGinley and Sara McCauley Wallwork. “We would like to welcome Kayllin to the festival and we look forward to seeing her in Dungloe,” event organisers said.

The selections for the 2024 Marys are still ongoing but as of now, alongside the recent selections, Niamh Kerrigan has been chosen to represent Birmingham; Clare O’Donnell has been selected as the Donegal Mary; Áine McGee has been appointed for Dungloe; Leah McDaid will be representing the Gaeltacht: Mairead McEnroe has been selected for the Glasgow sash; Kyna Boyle has been chosen as the London Mary and Scarlett Catalfamo has been given the Philadelphia title for the 2024 Mary From Dungloe International Arts Festival. 

The 57th Mary From Dungloe will run from July 27 - August 5 and offers a programme packed full of events.
