Adam Lough picking up his award at the National Garda Youth Awards in Portlaoise last year
The Donegal Garda Youth Awards 2024 ceremony will take place at the Abbey Hotel, Donegal Town on Monday, May 20 at 7pm.
The award celebrates “outstanding young people between the ages of 13 and 21 throughout the county”.
This is an invite-only event. The overall winners will be announced on that date and they will then go on to represent Donegal at National level. Every young person who was nominated will receive a certificate.
“We look forward to meeting the young people at the ceremony with their family members and also to meeting those who nominated them for an award,” Garda Shaun Sweeney said.
The Donegal Garda Youth Awards have once again been sponsored this year by the Joint Policing Committee and Donegal County Council. The Joint Policing Committee will dissolve later this year with the new Community Safety Bill coming into action. The youth awards also welcome an additional sponsor this year, Supermacs Ireland.
Garda Shaun Sweeney continued by saying gardaí are “ delighted that Supermacs have come on board and we thank them for their support. As Supermacs are based in Donegal Town, we decided to hold the Youth Awards ceremony in that area this year.
“Without the generosity of sponsors, we would not be in a position to host these types of events so we are very grateful to them. We also wish to say sincere thanks to all at the Abbey Hotel in Donegal Town for their support and generosity this year in kindly providing us with the venue”.
