Gardaí are appealing for witnesses

A child has been taken to Letterkenny University Hospital after being struck by a car. 

The incident occurred in the vicinity of Scoil Aodh Rua Agus Nuala, Donegal Town on Wednesday afternoon at approximately 2pm. 

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or those with camera footage to come forward.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of road traffic collision between a pedestrian and car on Upper Main Street, Donegal Town on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. 

“A child has been taken to University Hospital Letterkenny for treatment of what is believed to be non life-threatening injuries.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on Upper Main Street, Donegal town between 1.45pm and 2.15pm and are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.”

No arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing.
