After receiving the devastating news that they had to move from their established trading point by the pier in Killybegs, the Seafood Shack has a new home.
Mairead Anderson owns the renowned Seafood Shack and Boathouse Restaurant with her husband Gary. She received a massive outpouring of support when she shared news that the designated trading spot where she had been located for years was to become a bus stop.
Given just a few weeks' notice to vacate the location, Mairead rolled up her sleeves and set about preparing a new location for the Shack. The couple had bought a premises on Killybegs Main Street, but it was nowhere near ready to house the business given delays on getting the go-ahead to carry out work.
Already a very busy woman running her business, Mairead set about making the courtyard of the premises suitable for the Seafood Shack.
She took to Facebook to share news of the new location which can be found at Eircode F94 WF5X. “Basically we are trading from our property that we have yet to start work on,” she said.
Outlining details of the work which she has been carrying out over the last few weeks, she added: “We will see you all at some stage over the summer. Thank you all again for your amazing support.
“I will send on the petition to Donegal County Council, and I genuinely appreciate all the messages of support from all the local businesses and from everyone near and far.
“It’s so important we stick together and keep transforming Killybegs into a happening wee town.”
The Seafood Shack will be open seven days a week from 12.30pm to 7.30/8pm.
The news has been widely welcomed by the Seafood Shack’s many customers who have been full of praise for Mairead and the positivity she has shown.
