The issue of long delays at Glencar’s traffic lights has been resolved.

Cllr Jimmy Kavanagh raised the issue of traffic lights at a pedestrian crossing by Glencar Shopping Centre taking a long time to change at the May council meeting.

“The lights can take up to four minutes to change to allow a pedestrian to cross to the Glencar shopping centre,” he told the meeting. “Parents are very worried about this as the road is very busy, and children tend to take their chances and just run across rather than wait for the lights to change, and they are afraid that a child will be knocked down and injured.

“It is now getting close to school closing for the Summer holidays and this makes it even more urgent as children will be off school and out and about all day, and trips to the shops across the road will be even more frequent, so I would ask the council to urgently get the light adjusted to deal with the issue.”

The engineer has now confirmed to Cllr Kavanagh that the lights have been adjusted and are working as they should without a long delay in changing to allow pedestrians to cross. Cllr. Kavanagh thanked the council for getting this seen to so quickly.
