Long serving Patrick McGowan and newcomer Dakota Nic Mheanman have taken the final two seats in the Lifford-Stranorlar LEA.

In a nail biting finish, veteran Gerry Crawford (FF) failed to get re-elected. Nic Mheanman has become only the second woman to sit on the new council and one of its youngest members.

Following the distribution of Frank McBrearty’s 310 surplus in the eighth and final count, McGowan (FF) finished on 1,508, Nic Mheanman on 1,357 and Crawford with 1,240.

The full lineup of the new Lifford-Stranolar EA is: Martin Scanlon (Ind), Gary Doherty (SF), Frank McBrearty (Ind), Martin Harley, Patrick McGowan (FF) and Dakota Nic Mheanman (SF).
