The Sinn Féin councillor received a total of 1,711 votes which surpasses the quota of 1,629 - the surplus will now be distributed accordingly

Local elections: Sinn Féin's Gerry McMonagle retains seat in Letterkenny LEA

Sinn Féin’s Gerry McMonagle has retained his seat on the tenth count. 

McMonagle received a total of 1,711 votes which surpasses the quota of 1,629, the surplus will now be distributed accordingly. 

In the Letterkenny LEA, the total electorate is 25,643 and the valid poll was 13,029. There are seven seats available in the Letterkenny LEA, five have yet to be filled. The sitting councillors are now Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly of Fianna Fáil; Gerry McMonagle Sinn Féin and Thomas Sean Devine of the 100% Redress Party.

The results of the tenth count are:

Fianna Fáil’s Ciaran Brogan has received 607; Jimmy Kavanagh, Fine Gael got 1,508; Michael McBride, Non-party received 1,364; Donal Coyle, Fianna Fáil has 1,105; Aontú’s Mary T Sweeney received 988 and Non-party Kevin Bradley has 986.
