Fuel stolen from tractor in south Donegal

A tractor parked in Pettigo had its fuel stolen.

The tractor was parked in a farmyard at Kimmid, Pettigo between 6pm on Tuesday and 9:30am on Wednesday, June 5.

“We appeal to residents in that area to make contact with Gardaí in Ballyshannon on 071-9858530 if they observed any suspicious activity or vehicles between those dates,” Sergeant Fergus McGroary said. “We also appeal to other farmers in that area to check their farmyards in case other thefts may have occurred.

“We advise all farmers to ensure that they have adequate security measures in place on their farm. Please ensure that your shed doors are locked when the yard is unattended and that all machinery is locked up.

“Do not leave keys in machinery. CCTV should be considered if there is machinery of a high value on the farm and ensure that there is good lighting in and around the farmyard.

“If any farmers want advice in relation to security measures for their farm they can contact Sgt Fergus Mc Groary (Divisional Crime Prevention Officer) at Letterkenny Garda Station on 074-9167100 and he will be happy to oblige.”
