Ardara native Siobhan Shovlin (FG) has been elected to Fingal County Council, where she has held a seat for the last four years.

Cllr Shovlin was one of six councillors elected to the Castleknock LEA, and one of 40 in Fingal County Council.

She was first co-opted to the council in 2020, replacing party colleague Senator Emer Currie.

A primary school teacher and prominent member of the Donegal Association in Dublin, the Ardara woman says she is very aware of the issues on the ground.

She is delighted to have been endorsed by her constituents and by her party - including former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar who was a strong supporter on the campaign trail.

Cllr Shovlin said: “As things start to settle down after the election I’d like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for your support on Friday, June 7 to allow me to continue my work on Fingal County Council.

“I am extremely grateful to the 1,891 people who went out and gave me their Number One vote.

“I am honoured to represent our community and I’m available to assist you in any way I can.

“I couldn’t have run the campaign without the support of so many people- Fine Gael members, family and friends. Without your continuous help I couldn’t have done it! Thank you.”
