Letterkenny Community Centre has secured €100,000 in funding
Letterkenny Community Centre have moved to distance themselves from a story about a gymnastics coach that has been suspended after allegations of inappropriate behaviour in Donegal.
The Donegal-based male coach was stood down by Gymnastics Ireland, the national governing body for the sport, and an investigation into the allegations continues.
"A newspaper article published yesterday, Thursday 20 June 2024, has triggered inappropriate speculation over the identity of the male gymnastics coach reportedly suspended by Gymnastics Ireland," read a statement from Letterkenny Community Centre on Friday. "Whilst we would not typically comment on ongoing Garda investigations, in order to protect the welfare of our coaches, we feel it is necessary to confirm that the allegations do not relate to anybody employed here at Letterkenny Community Gymnastics Club, or in relation to any of the gymnastics programmes that we run here at Letterkenny Community Centre."
