The Ford Escort driven by Glenswilly man Teighearnán Kelly sports a rooftop tribute to his late brother.

Manus Kelly was a three-time winner of the Donegal International Rally.

Teighearnán Kelly, a regular competitor, has Conal Doherty alongside him in the Escort and the pair are in class 13.

The pair closed out day one 12th in the class and after SS8, Garrygort, on Saturday were up to 10th.

The livery on the roof of the Escort depicts a tribute to Manus Kelly, reading: “King of the Hills. Thanjks for the Memories. Brother.”

Manus Kelly won a three-in-a-row from 2016-2018 in an S12B Subaru Impreza. In 2015, he won the National rally before stepping into WRC machinery for 2016.

In 2019, he tragically lost his life in a crash while competing in the rally. The Hyundai i20 R5 he was driving crashed on SS15, Fanad Head.
