The Killybegs Coast Guard are involved in the operation
Emergency services are currently attending a 'martatime-related incident' at Teelin Pier.
Late on Saturday morning, Teelin Pier was closed to the public due to what was described as 'an emergency'.
A multi-agency operation was subsequently launched in the area.
A crew from the Killybegs Coast Guard attended in their Delta RIB after being tasked by the Malin Head Coast Guard and the Killybegs unit is involved in the ongoing operation.
The Coast Guard's 118 Rescue helicopter, based at Strandhill in Sligo, was dispatched to the scene. The chopper appears to have returned to its base.
A spokesperson for the Department of Transport told Donegal Live: “The Irish Coast Guard are currently responding to a maritime related incident in Co. Donegal.
“The ongoing incident is being coordinated by Malin Coast Guard Rescue Coordination Centre.”
Local gardai and other emergency services are assisting in the operation.
A Garda spokesperson told Donegal Live: “A Gardaí are currently assisting at an incident in Teelin Bay, Co. Donegal following a request from the coastguard this afternoon, Saturday 22nd June 2024.
“No further information is available at this time.”
A large crowd of divers, estimated to be over 100 and drawn from all over the country, are in the area for the North West Dive Rally, which is taking place at Teelin Pier this weekend.
