A local councillor has praised the local organisers of the Bundoran Sea Sessions Surf & Music Festival over the weekend as well as those who attended the popular Surf and Music festival, held over three days.

It came to a close on Sunday night with a rousing performance from acclaimed singer and guitarist, Johnny Marr.

Cllr Michael McMahon (SF) said:

“It was very successful. It went very well and was very good, I felt,” he said.

“It was great for the town and the event was run very well and I would be very satisfied with this year’s event.

“They were a very nice crowd who enjoyed themselves, there was also great entertainment throughout the town and a big thank you to the organisers of Sea Sessions as the councillor for Bundoran.

“I would also like to thank the Emergency services and gardai, who did a very good job. It was well policed and I know that talking to them, they were very happy. I understand that there was no or very little anti-social behaviour that I have heard.

“There appeared to be a great atmosphere around the whole town, the weather was very favourable too, the beach was packed with people on Sunday. I think that local businesses would be quite happy.”

“Bringing the festival back down to the main beach area also ensured a more carnival type atmosphere to the whole event, I also believe,” Cllr McMahn added.

He also applauded the efficiency and work of both Donegal County Council staff and local Tús workers whom he said had ensured that the town was cleaned by 9am on the Monday morning.
