Cllr Jimmy Kavanagh has stressed about the lack of facilities in the Glencar area of Letterkenny
Donegal County Councillor Jimmy Kavanagh says the €500,000 allocated towards the Peace Plus Funding for Glencar in Letterkenny will be a significant boost for the community.
The Glencar Outdoor Community Recreation Facility proposal provides a multi-use outdoor shared space, with the provision of a multi-sports playing pitch and community garden and allotments.
“This is something that I and the local councillors have been advocating and lobbying for, in recognition of the lack of facilities, particularly for young people in this heavily populated area of the town,” Fine Gael's Kavanagh said.
“This news is most welcome and will make a positive addition to the area. The Glencar area has had a deficiency of sporting and social facilities, especially for young people, and given the huge population of the area such facilities are very much needed. I look forward to the work commencing and these facilities becoming available to enhance the Glencar area for all the community."
