Video footage shows a lorry forced into the hard shoulder by the DL-registered Toyota Auris
A person has been arrested in connection with a raft of alleged incidents of dangerous driving between Tubbercurry and Bundoran last Friday.
Video footage was widely circulated on social media showing a DL-registered Toyota Auris driving erratically in County Sligo.
The car in the footage goes close to hitting oncoming traffic several times. At one stage, a lorry is forced to take evasive action and manoeuvre into the hard shoulder to avoid a collision.
Gardai say that they are investigating “a number of alleged incidents of dangerous driving” and say that they occurred between Tubbercurry and Bundoran between 6.30-7.30pm on Friday, June 28.
Tubbercurry to Bundoran is a journey of around 70km.
A Garda spokesperson has confirmed that a person has been arrested in connection with the incidents and an appeal has been issued for footage.
The spokesperson said: “The vehicle involved in these incidents was a red/maroon coloured Toyota Auris with a partial registration number of ’08 DL’.
“We are appealing to anybody who may have observed the manner of driving in question to make contact with Gardaí.
“If anybody travelled along that busy stretch of road that evening between the above times with a dash cam, we ask them to make the footage available to us if they believe that they may have captured the incidents on same.
“Gardaí may be contacted in Ballyshannon on 071-9858530 with relevant information."
