The popular St Vincent dePaul charity shop in Bundoran, Vincent’s has been awarded second prize in the Charity Retail Ireland's ‘Pride Month’ window display competition.

Announcing the second placed winning display, they said:

“Congratulations to all at SVP Vincents Bundoran on their striking Pride window. We received 25 windows in total which all show a commitment to diversity. So a huge well done to everyone that took part.”

Alice Gavigan, Bundoran conference president told DonegalLive:

“This award winning Pride window display reflects the commitment to diversity at Vincent's, Bundoran.

“The culture at Vincent's is inclusive and welcoming and Vincent's Bundoran is excited to welcome Donegal Bay Pride Parade to Bundoran on July 6.”

She said that Charity Retail has come a long way in the past ten years and beyond the window displays at Vincent’s, Bundoran are a team of hard working and dedicated volunteers led by recently appointed Manager Deirdre Gallagher.

The busy shop has a boutique feel, is clean and clutter free and is professionally run, she added.

"Not only do Vincent's provide quality second hand clothing and other mostly second hand goods at affordable prices, the shop provides an income source for SVP Ozanam House, Bundoran and those who need assistance in our community," she added.

“We have a strong commitment to promoting the circular retailing model of Reduce- Reuse-Recycle. “

"By donating  good quality items to charity people can reduce landfill, and by purchasing from a charity shop, people can reduce reliance on less sustainable methods of manufacture and use such as fast fashion. So you see Charity shops are a huge benefit to our communities in more ways than one”.

She explained: "There are  exciting times ahead for Charity Retail” but “with charity retail does come some challenges”.

"In order to serve our community better, it would be ideal to be open more hours, however, we need more volunteers in order to make this happen, this is our biggest challenge at the moment.”.

If you are interested in a volunteering opportunity and would like to be part of the team at Vincent's Bundoran please feel free to stop by the shop for a chat with Deirdre Gallagher, Manager.

"We thank our hard-working volunteers, donors and customers for all their continued support to Vincent's, supporting the work of The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, the conference president concluded.
