Fanad Head Lighthouse:
Considered one of three signature discovery points on the Wild Atlantic Way, Fanad Head lighthouse is a must-see attraction. Previously voted as one of the most beautiful in the world, it is an 1817 working lighthouse at the mouth of Lough Swilly, surrounded by a beautiful landscape of beaches.
Fanad lighthouse was opened to the public as a visitor attraction in 2016, it is available to visit and to book a room. You can even take a tour and climb to the top of the lighthouse for surrounding views of the rugged landscape and Atlantic Ocean.
Approximately fifty thousand people visit the remote lighthouse annually, from all over the world. National Geographic even gave Donegal a special mention describing Fanad Head as ‘the edge-of-the-world lighthouse.’
