Sharon Reynolds celebrated her 50th birthday in a unique way - by jumping off Creevy Pier in Ballyshannon.

This milestone came about as a fundraising effort for The Donegal-Galway Cancer Bus, a service that transports cancer patients from Donegal to Galway for treatment, relying entirely on donations without government funding.

In a statement via her GoFundMe page, Sharon said: "After everything my family has gone through with cancer, I wanted to give back to the service that has helped us so much.

"Cancer affects nearly every family, and the Donegal Cancer Bus has been a lifeline for many."

Sharon's two sons joined her for the jump in support and by the end of the fundraiser she had raised €4,100 for the Good and New Charity Shop, which operates the Donegal-Galway Cancer Bus. Last month, Sharon presented the cheque to the charity.

"We met Kathleen Burke, a cancer survivor and the voluntary secretary of the charity, who showed us around their charity shop and welcomed us with tea and coffee," Sharon recounted. "The kindness and generosity shown during this fundraiser have been unforgettable."
