Workhouses of County Donegal Exhibition to go on display at Dunfanaghy Workhouse

Monday will be a special day of guided tours with the heritage officer from 11am

The Workhouse in Dunfanaghy has announced that the Donegal County Museum's Exhibition of "Workhouses of County Donegal" is going on display at the Dunfanaghy Workhouse from Monday, July 15.

Learn about the history of the Poor Union Workhouses in Donegal and hear real stories of people who lived within the Dunfanaghy Workhouse.

Monday will be a special day of guided tours with the heritage officer from 11am to 3pm. Bookings are required for the official launch of the exhibition at €5 per person.

Please contact The Workhouse on 074 913 540 to book a ticket. The exhibition will run seven days a week until September, 10am - 4pm at €6 per person.

A celebration of "Wee Hannah" will take place on Saturday July, 20. At 12.30pm there will be a gathering at The Workhouse with a guided walk to the paupers' graveyard. A blessing and historical talk will take place at the paupers' graveyard and a blessing will take place at 1.30pm.

Where then everyone is invited back to the Workhouse at 2pm for tea, coffee, scones and a heritage discussion with local historian Cary Meehan. To book, please contact The Workhouse on 074 913 6540.

Sian from Wild Fuschia Bakehouse will be Hosting a Cup Cake Making Workshop on Tuesday, July 23, at 10.30am - 12pm for children ages 9+. Come make, bake and decorate your own cupcakes. To book, please contact The Workhouse on 074 913 6540.

Come join the Fairy Godmother at The Workhouse Cinema Room in a disney inspired sing along experience for all the family to enjoy on Thursday, July 18. There will be singing, dancing to all your favourite Disney classics and fun with a bubble machine! The time slots available are: 11am - 12pm and 1pm - 2pm.
