Day for Decy Barr at Donegal Town FC raises €6,000 for two vital charities

Day for Decy Barr at Donegal Town FC raises €6,000 for two vital charities

Funds raised at the recent Day for Decy Barr were handed over to two charities at the Hospital Field - the home of Donegal Town FC - where each charity was presented with a cheque of €3,000,

Sr Magdalene and Tara Faulkner represented Solace Donegal Cancer Support Centre and Sheila Morrow, Kathleen McHugh, Una Faulkner and Mary McGowan were present from Donegal Family Resource Centre.

“Both groups provide very important services within our community,” said Donegal Town FC chairman Raymond Jordan.

There was a great turnout at the Day for Decy last month at the Hospital field The late Declan's family, teammates and friends were present for the unveiling of a plaque in his memory, which took place before the game between Decy's Dynamos and D'unbelieveables.

The husband of Laura, Declan passed away last year, aged just 44. The father-of-three - Ellie, Katie and Molly - from Ballintra is remembered as a talented footballer, a loyal teammate and friend, and one of life’s true gentlemen.
