There were 16 cases relating to non-payment of TV licences before Donegal District Court.

The cases were prosecuted by state solicitor Kieran Dillon on behalf of An Post at Monday’s court sitting which was presided over by Judge Ciaran Liddy.

Of the 16 defendants, four did not attend court and had not paid their TV licence in the intervening time.

A further two had expressed through solicitors that they were making an effort to pay the licence fee, and those cases were adjourned to September 23.

The remaining ten cases were struck out on the basis that a TV licence has since been purchased.
