Arranmore RNLI Lifeboat which had seven crew members on board for the call-out
Arranmore RNLI were called to assist a yacht with two crew on board which had encountered engine trouble.
Malin Head Coast Guard asked the volunteer crew to assist the 11-meter yacht which was situated 2 miles off Arranmore yesterday evening around 5pm.
Following assessment by the lifeboat crew a tow was established and the yacht was taken to the safety of Burtonport Harbour. The lifeboat returned to anchor at Arranmore at 7:35pm following refuelling.
“Weather conditions at the time were favourable with a light southerly wind and a half-meter swell,” Coxswain Jimmy Early said. “The crew of the yacht did exactly the right thing in asking for assistance and as a 24/7 emergency service we are happy to respond.”
The crew members on board the lifeboat were: Coxswain Jimmy Early, relief mechanic, Thomas Davis, Kieran O’Donnell, Sean O’Donnell, Sharon O’Donnell, Evan O’Donnell, and Finbar Gallagher.
