Buncrana Community Hospital
Buncrana Community Hospital is to be extended under new plans submitted to Donegal County Council.
The HSE has sought planning permission from the local authority for works to the facility at Maginn Avenue/McCarter's Road, Buncrana.
The application, in the name of Health Service Executive North West, seeks to add a single storey extension to the Buncrana Community Hospital.
The proposed extension would house six one-bed wards and a waiting area.
A further single-storey extension would include a visitors' room.
Several modifications are also propsed under the application, including an ambulance entry with the addition of a single-storey canopy with two windows and a double door.
A new single-storey canopy is proposed for the existing hospital entrance while the operator is planning to have a larger opening to the existing day room.
The current smoking room will be redesigned as a day room and an existing single-storey ward will become a staff changing area.
A decision is due from the local authority by the end of September.
