Cairdeas na bhFidiléirí fiddle summer school to finish with unique event

A unique event is taking place in Gweedore today, Saturday - a multi-disciplinary arts event is finishing off the Cairdeas na bhFidiléirí fiddle summer school.

This final event connected to fiddle week but at a different venue is a live performance of the Seven Waves suite of music, composed by Paul Harrigan, to provide a soundscape to accompany the Seven Waves art installation, which is currently on display in An Gailearaí in Gweedore until the end of August.

The performance will be at 8pm tonight. The musicians performing will be Paul Harrigan with Roisin and Ella McGrory. Also performing will be Eithne Ní Ghallchobhair reading her translations into Irish of the Seven Waves poems by George Mackay Brown, which inspired the artworks and Aobha Ní Aragáin reading the poems in English. Tickets can be bought through the An Gailearaí website or see the links on The Fiddle Music of Donegal facebook page.
