'Proud day' as Erin and Cian Naughton carry out Brendan Martin Cup at Croke Park

'I have to say yesterday was a very proud day for me, to have Erin and Cian carry out the Brendan Martin Cup ahead of the Ladies Senior Final in Croke Park,' Cllr Naughton, who is the current President of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, posted.

Donegal County Councillor Michéal Naughton has expressed his pride as his children carried out the cup before the TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Football Senior Championship final between Galway and Kerry at Croke Park in Dublin.

Cllr Naughton is a native of Carns, Co Sligo, who currently lives in Laghey and he previously managed Donegal.

"I have to say yesterday was a very proud day for me, to have Erin and Cian carry out the Brendan Martin Cup ahead of the Ladies Senior Final in Croke Park," Cllr Naughton, who is the current President of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, posted. "It’s a day we won’t forget and I want to thank everyone at the Ladies Gaelic Football Association for making days like yesterday happen."

Kerry ran out winners on a 3-14 to 0-11 scoreline in front of a crowd of 35,000, with Niamh Carmody accepting the cup on behalf of the Kingdom.
