Helen McCready from Rosses AC has been enjoying the Olympic Games in Paris and even got a selfie with American Olympian Desiree Linden at the Stade de France.

Burtonport native McCready is a regular competitor and has won the Donegal Half Marathon title in each of the last two years and was first home in the Strabane Lifford Half Marathon in May of this year, following on from her success in Derry's Walled City 10 Miler in March.

She also has helped Donegal medal at All-Ireland Masters Cross Country Championships and coached Amy Greene from Finn Valley AC in the U-20 Women 5,000m at the European Cross Country Championships at Laeken Park in Brussels last year.

Linden represented the United States in the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics women's marathon. In 2018, she won the Boston Marathon, becoming the first American in 33 years to win the woman's category in the event. She holds the women's 50K world record of 2:59:54.
