The volunteer crew quickly established a tow and took the jetski to the safety of Inch pier
A man has been rescued by the RNLI on Lough Swilly after the jet ski he was operating developed mechanical problems.
The Lough Swilly RNLI’s inshore lifeboat went to the assistance of the man just off Saltpans after being alerted at around 9.30pm on Saturday.
The volunteer crew quickly established a tow and took the jet ski to the safety of Inch Pier. The crew then returned to Ned's Point to refuel and make ready for service.
Joe Joyce from Lough Swilly RNLI commended the quick actions of both the casualty and the volunteer crew. He said the jetski owner was very experienced, had all the proper safety equipment including a handheld radio and did the right thing asking for assistance. He also thanked the crew for turning out so quickly in numbers on a Saturday night.
Remember if you're in difficulty in or on the water, dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.
