Donegal Town is celebrating its 550th birthday and members of the community are encouraged to get involved
Anyone living in Donegal Town and surrounding areas is invited to be part of a really special project, Donegal Town’s first festival of light.
Named Soilse, the festival of light will take place as part of the main Donegal Town 550 celebrations in October. Over the intervening months, people are invited to come together to help put this spectacular event in place.
A spokesperson said: “Join a group of local artists, share stories and ideas, learn new skills and be part
Soilse, the very first festival of light in Donegal Town.
“We are meeting twice weekly during the months of August and September on a drop-in basis.Participants will design and help to build awe-inspiring sculptures and costumes for Soilse.”
Soilse takes place on the evenings of October 11 and 12.
The spokesperson continued: “No previous arts experience is needed and all workshops are free.
“This project is open to and welcomes all members of the community, over 18 years.”
Workshop Schedule
Workshops will take place in the Sewing Room, Super Valu, Donegal Town, F94 Y86X as follows:
Tuesday evenings, August 13, 20 and 27 from 7pm to 10pm.
Saturdays starting August 17 from 10am to 1pm.
September weekday workshops times to be confirmed.
