Fallen hillwalker airlifted to hospital after sustaining serious injury

The operation at Muckross was the third call out in two days for the volunteers of Killybegs Coast Guard

Killybegs Coast Guard were tasked on Tuesday evening to assist a fallen hill walker at Muckross.

A spokesperson for the unit outlined the operation, saying: "The casualty sustained a serious injury and was airlifted by Rescue 118 and transported to hospital.

We would like to thank the National Ambulance Service (NAS) and Rescue 118 for their assistance this evening.

"We would also like to thank to locals who helped us this evening.

"We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.

"As always, if you see anyone in difficult on land or sea, Call 112/999 and ask for the Coast Guard."

This follows two further operations for the dedicated  volunteers of the unit in the last two days. A child was airlifted to hospital after sustaining a head injury from a fall from a bicycle near Ardara.

And a woman was brought to hospital by ambulance after falling at Sliabh Liag.
