Max O’Sullivan from Moville completed the four peak challenge over the weekend of August 17 and 18.

He was raising money for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association. This isn’t the first time he has raised money for climbing a mountain. In June of this year he did the three peak challenge in the UK to raise money for Dementia UK and in 2023 he climbed Kilimanjaro for Meningitis Ireland in which his Limerick based team raised over €50,000 for the charity.

There were 25 people taking part in the climbs. He didn’t know any of the climbers beforehand. The weekend was organised by Jason Black Mountaineering who organised the bus, timeframe and guided the event.

Max was inspired by Adrian Harkins Summit 2 Sea campaign. Max’s challenge began at 9:46 am on Saturday and was completed at 8:38 pm on Sunday.

The challenge included climbing the highest mountain in each province. The group climbed Slieve Donard (850 m), Lugnaquilla (925 m), Carrauntoohil ( 1038 m) and Mweelrea (814 m) which meant the group climbed 3627 m over the weekend.
