Alfie the detector dog helped the Donegal Division nab 10 people in possession of controlled drugs over the weekend.
One male was arrested and interviewed on suspicion of cultivating cannabis. He was interviewed and released pending analysis of the seized items and submission of a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
A second male was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after failing to stop for Gardaí. Cocaine and cannabis with a market value of €3,150 was also seized during the operation.
Alfie is a detector dog with the Revenue Customs Service and along with his handler, Alfie assisted the Divisional Drugs Unit with checkpoints and searches throughout the weekend as part of Operation Tara. As part of this operation, 10 people were detected in possession of controlled drugs.
“Anyone who may have information in relation to the sale and supply of controlled drugs is asked to contact the Donegal Divisional Drugs Unit in confidence on 074-9167100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station,” An Garda Siochana said.
